2. Comments

When you leave a comment on our website, the data entered in the comment form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent, are collected to help us detect spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public alongside your comment.


3. Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded EXIF GPS location data. Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from images.


4. Cookies

  • If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies. These cookies last for 1 year.
  • If you visit the login page, we will set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
  • When you log in, we will set cookies to store your login information and screen preferences. Login cookies last 2 days, screen option cookies last 1 year. If you select “Remember me”, your login will persist for 2 weeks. Logging out deletes login cookies.
  • When editing or publishing an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. It contains no personal data and simply indicates the post ID. It expires after 1 day.

5. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., YouTube videos, images, articles).
Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website directly.

These websites may collect data, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interactions if you have an account and are logged in to their platform.


6. Data collected for orders and licenses

When placing an order or using our services, we may collect:

  • Order data: products purchased, license type, customer history

  • Cookies and trackers: preferences, browsing statistics

⚠️ No banking data is stored by DietHelper.coach.
Payments are processed securely through trusted third-party providers (Stripe, PayPal, Bancontact). Payment data is encrypted and transmitted directly to these providers without passing through DietHelper servers.

When using a free trial license, the machine ID is stored to prevent fraudulent multiple trials.


7. Legal basis for processing

Our processing relies on the following legal grounds:

  • Contractual performance: managing orders, deliveries, activations, technical support
  • Legal obligations: invoicing, tax compliance
  • Legitimate interest: fraud prevention, service improvement
  • Consent: newsletters, non-essential cookies, marketing forms

8. Limited data sharing

Your data may only be shared with:

  • Technical service providers: Hostinger (hosting), WooCommerce, email system
  • Payment providers: Stripe, PayPal, Bancontact (via Stripe)
  • Competent authorities: in case of legal obligation
  • Potential acquirer: in case of a business transfer, subject to GDPR compliance

These providers are contractually bound to GDPR compliance. Some (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) may transfer your data outside the EU. In such cases, appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses) are applied.


9. Data security and retention

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data (pseudonymization, secured admin access, file protection).

Retention periods:

  • Orders and customer data: duration of relationship + 3 years (follow-up/archiving)
  • Accounting and invoicing data: 10 years (legal obligation)
  • Cookies: up to 13 months
  • Machine ID (trial version): up to 12 months
  • Comments: indefinitely, unless deletion is requested

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:

11. Use and transmission of personal data

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.


12. Data backup and loss

You are solely responsible for your personal backups. DietHelper allows you to export certain essential client data (name, surname, email, etc.) in PDF format for archiving.

We do not provide automatic remote backups and do not host your data on third-party servers.

DietHelper cannot be held liable for partial or total data loss, including:

  • misuse or mishandling,
  • file corruption,
  • accidental deletion,
  • failure to manually back up,
  • malfunctions caused by operating system or third-party updates (Windows, Excel, antivirus, etc.).

We strongly recommend regular backups of your “Client Listing” using generated PDF files (print buttons).


13. Policy modifications

This policy may be amended at any time.
In the event of substantial modification, users will be informed via the website or by email.
